I’m going to be taking daily “log off” breaks. 24hr news media coverage of events added with nonstop social media refreshing has left me with high anxiety and getting nothing done that needs to be done. Plus, it’s left me forgetting to nurture my reading soul.
I love to read. I love to write. I’ve done very little of either since the pandemic started.
I’m taking all the steps I can take to help prevent the spread. The Roths have been self-isolating for almost all of March and will continue to do so.
More cases will pop up, more things will happen, more political bs will fling around, more blame games, more of everything will keep rinsing and repeating.
I could sit all day and refresh to never miss one second or I could go back to trying very hard to carve out my own slice of normal for several hours each day.
I highly suggest everyone does the same. That you mark off acceptable use times to get on social media and check feeds, etc. Limit yourself to just that time. Hell, set it for three times a day, twenty-minute stretches, even if you feel the need to be in the know. But don’t forget to take time away for you–for your “reading soul.”
